MCAT Books For Sale!

Hey AMSA,

One of our seniors, Yazan Alghalith, is selling his MCAT prep material. Below is what he’s offering:

“I’ve got a complete set of Kaplan books from the on-demand course. It also includes all supporting materials (flashcards, quicksheet, lesson book) and they’re all in great condition, very little, if any, writing. $100 for the whole set. I’ve got the excellent Examkrackers 101 Passages in Verbal Reasoning book with minimal writing in great condition for $10. There are some other MCAT flashcards they can ask about if interested.”

This is a great price for what he’s offering. If you’re someone looking at taking the MCAT in the near future, definitely consider this deal.

If you’re interested or would like to find out more information about the materials, email Yazan at yna404@truman.edu.

Have a great weekend all,

Josh

Pre-med Syndrome

This interesting link was sent out in the AMSA Weekly Consult.  For those of you who don’t receive that, you can get it by joining AMSA as a national member at amsa.org.  Here’s the link for the article.  It’s about examining your motivations for being and pre-med and wanting to become a doctor.

Shadowing!

Hey all,

I wanted to give you the heads-up about shadowing in Kirksville during the school year. Northeast Regional is happy to have Truman students come over to shadow, but you first must take an orientation class. Here’s the transcript of the email that was sent to AMSA.

Before you job shadow, you are required to attend an orientation session.  These sessions are approximately 2 hours and include the application, dress code/etiquette, HIPPA, OSHA, etc.  There will be a test over HIPPA and OSHA.

We have set up two orientation times:

Monday, September 26 from 4:45 to 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, October 6 from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m.

Both sessions will be held at the NEMO Health Council Family Health Clinic, 1506 Crown Dr., back door.

Please RSVP no later than Friday, September 23 to NEMO AHEC 660-665-6404 or email dcoles@nemoahec.org.

You will need to bring current immunization record and drivers license or other Government issued identification.”

Attached is also the brochure that they sent our way. Job Shadow Seminar_Brochure Fall2011

Although not everyone decided to shadow while they are in classes, if you have time, this would be a great way to spend it.

Have a great day all,

Josh
